Alexis Stewart: Baby finally

For any first-time mother, Alexis Stewart is hardly the sentimental sort. "I do not cry a great deal,Inch the daughter of entertaining guru Martha Stewart states within the same brusque, no-nonsense manner her mother made famous. "I am not really a bubbly person."

Still, the 45-year-old cohost from the Sirius radio show Whatever with Alexis and Jennifer unwillingly cops to 1 "annoying" behavior: talking with her 2-month-old daughter Jude in baby talk. "I call her, like, 'little crab cake,'" she confesses having a sheepish smile. "It's horrible! It's to prevent.Inch

But-finally-it feels right. Within the last 5 years, Stewart, who welcomed Jude March 8 using a gestational surrogate, continues to be indefatigable in her own mission for any baby, at some point investing as much as $27,000 every month for in vitro fertilization methods as well as an additional $6,000 for drugs that stimulated egg production.

"Many people want [a biological] baby first," states Stewart of eschewing adoption. "I believe that's natural."

After at least a year of remedies that produced no results, Stewart enlisted the aid of Dr. John Zhang, a professional in the New Hope Fertility Center in Manhattan, where she lives. The routine, which Stewart still follows expecting further growing her family, costs typically $5,000 every month and involves bloodstream work, ultrasounds and from time to time medicines. "Hopefully," states Stewart, who always uses exactly the same sperm donor, "they'll obtain a [viable] embryo and freeze it," to ensure that it may later be inserted inside a surrogate.

Fearful time was drained, Stewart elected for surrogacy but found that hurdles still continued to be. Before Jude's effective birth, Stewart's surrogates had miscarried four occasions. For your reason, "I declined to obtain looking forward to [the infant]," she states, though she increased near to the surrogate who transported Jude. Within an earlier pregnancy having a different surrogate, "we went for that second make sure there is no heartbeat," Stewart describes. "So each time we went to obtain a sonogram with Jude, I'd have that 'I dislike up' feeling. I related the sonogram to something horrible."

After Jude showed up, Stewart could reserve her worries and target the baby-as did Martha. (Don't rely on Grandmother: Alexis has formerly stated she'll you need to be known as Martha.) "It is so annoying-she will not leave!" Stewart groans, chafing at her mother's affinity for that prim and proper. "I can not stand girlie, [but] she sneaked inside a onesie with scratchy bows. She plays liven up with Jude every single day.Inch Such doting would be a shock to Stewart, who quips, "She goodies her dogs a bit exactly the same way, [but] she did not get it done beside me!Inch

Like a single mother, Stewart is unfazed by the idea of raising Jude with no father-a topic which she's typically blunt. "[Jude] might have a parent like mine, or she might have one that is not there. What are the differences?Inch she asks. (Stewart doesn't have rapport together with her father, Andy Stewart, who had been divorced from Martha in 1990.)

The new mother is bracing herself for any similarly strong-willed young girl-though she needs defiance will require a frilly form. "She'll most likely digital rebel and obtain a pink tutu," Stewart jokes. For now, she'll keep counting her benefits. "Just getting Jude," she states, "was lucky."
